Emulator
Progam that immitates
a games console and is therefore able to translate the information
into a graphical display. In this instance with a pc
Rom
Any game listed on a roms
site for download. Official term is for the rom chips inside
the game cartridges for nintendo, sega consoles etc.
Plugin
An extra piece of software\program
that is used in conjunction with something else. These are often
little add-ons to existing software. On emulators you will find
audio, video and input plugins which can be configured by the
usr. You can download new plugins for the emulator but this
normally ia not needed.
Adaptoid
A specific type of plugin(
for emample, using a nintendo64 controller in a P.C.)
CPU
Abbrieviation for computer,
often used in games with AI settings
FPS
Frames Per Second, this
means how many frames of animation in a game occur each second.
Games are desgined to run at a certain fps normally 40 - 60.
but can vary. If a game is running unusually fast or slow, the
fps rate may be set incorrectly.
